Shots of the upcoming GoPro Hero 8 Black surfaced around a month ago, with limited information about its specs and features. More information regarding the action cam seems to have surfaced, as reported by German tech site WinFuture.
The latest leaks suggest there’s a third accessory, in addition to the mountable display and external LED flash from before. It’s called the media module and it works almost like a case for the action cam. Not only that, it also adds two hot shoes to the camera’s body. This allows both the external display and LED flash to be attached to the GoPro Hero 8 Black simultaneously.
The media module also comes with a built-in microphone. But if you prefer, you can also use one of the two hot shoes to attach an external microphone.
New information as far as specs is concerned includes a 1220mAh battery. Unfortunately, its 4K video recording capability may be limited to 60fps, rather than the previously reported 120fps. On the flip side, the new information suggests that it will be able to record in 240fps in Full HD. On the outside, the GoPro Hero 8 Black also appears to have a hinged, retractable mounting plate.
With no new information about an announcement date, the previous rumour of a September release may still apply. But it’s still best to take all this with a pinch of salt, as with any leak.
