The Razer Huntsman was the first keyboard of the company to use Opto-Mechanical switches. This tech later found its way to the new-generation Razer Viper mouse. The latest product from the brand to use these optical switches is the Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition.
Razer now calls the optical switches Linear Optical Switches rather than Opto-Mechanical. Name aside, they essentially work the same way, with actuation registering when an infra-red light beam gets cut off by the keys being pressed down. The Huntsman Tournament Edition’s keys also actuate at 1mm, down to 1.5mm from the standard model.
This iteration of the Razer Huntsman also loses the number pad on the right. Most of the other features should be familiar to those who have used either the standard Huntsman or the Elite variant. These include the RGB lighting, the detachable USB-C cable, and the onboard profile storage.
The Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition is already available for pre-order on the Razer Store for RM609. September. It will begin shipping on 23 September 2019.
