Earlier today, Acer once again has held its next@Acer global press conference for the second half of the year at IFA. In addition to the absolutely outrageous Predator Thronos Air gaming massage chair, among the new products that the Taiwanese tech giant has unveiled is a new iteration of its thin and light laptop, the Swift 5.
Once again, Acer has managed to retain the sub-1kg weight for the new generation Swift 5 at 990 grams which can be even lighter if customers choose to stick with integrated graphics. Hence, it is not surprising that the company has also claimed that the new laptop is the lightest 14-inch laptop in the world once again.
Equipped with a Full HD IPS display, the new Swift 5 also comes with up to Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, 16GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 512GB PCIe Gen 3×4 solid state drive. Aside from the integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics, the laptop can also be obtained with NVIDIA GeForce MX 250 discrete graphics.
Acer also claimed that the new Swift 5 can achieve a battery life of up to 12.5 hours and it also supports fast charging which allows the laptop to operate for 4.5 hours with just 30 minutes of charging time. It also comes standard with USB 3.1 Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, dual-band Intel Wi-Fi 6, and Windows Hello-supported fingerprint reader.
Depending on respective markets, the new Swift 5 will generally be available within this quarter for USD 899.99 (~RM 3,774) onwards. We’ll keep you posted once we hear more about the availability of the new laptop for Malaysia.
