Google recently released an update for the routing options on the Google Maps app with mixed transit route with ride-sharing options and route for cyclists. The update will be parked under the Transit tab where users can find themselves having more options than just opting for public transit.
Additionally, the app is also integrating more details into the new ride-sharing segment, providing prices, time-frame, as well as traffic information. All displayed within the app itself. Users who are cycling will also be shown the most optimal bike path for easier navigation.
Prior to this, the tech giant has tried different ways to implement features for commuters. To recap, Google announced that it would use augmented reality and machine learning for their Local Guides program. Providing navigation via arrows to the direction they are heading to.
Google says that the update will roll out to 30 countries and will be available on Android and iOS systems over the coming weeks. Though Google isn’t naming the countries, it’s possible that Malaysia could be one of the countries to receive the update after the initial 30 countries.
