Keeping up with the hype of The International 2019 (TI9), Valve also announced two new heroes for their multiplayer online battle arena, Dota 2. The heroes were introduced a day before the grand final, and the heroes in question are known as Snapfire and Void Spirit.
First on the list is Snapfire. As per Valve’s official biography, Snapfire is a goblin grandma who bakes cookies that appears to buff allies when thrown towards them. Her backstory seems to suggest that she originated as a nemesis with Batrider and Timbersaw, a goblin character who is also shown in the teaser video.
Snapfire is also depicted mounting an adorable fire breathing lizard, complete with dual guns. It is speculated that she will be a support and nuker hero as the teaser ends with her lizard shooting a fireball, which might be her ultimate move, towards the tank attributed hero, Timbersaw.
The second hero on the list, Void Spirit, is the fourth Spirit brother to be added to Dota 2’s roster. The character is depicted as a purple-coloured, double-bladed staff-wielding hero. Unlike Snapfire’s reveal video, Void Spirit’s own introduction video doesn’t spare much detail about the hero, save that he is able to traverse through another realm.
Valve will also be featuring Void Spirit and Snapfire in Dota’s Underlord, Valve’s version of the turn-based strategy auto battler game. Underlord was inspired by the original mod for Dota 2 Arcade Mode called Auto Chess, developed by China-based developer, Drodo Studio.
Both heroes will be released in the upcoming Outlander update sometime during Fall 2019. At the time of writing, Valve did not provide an exact release date for the update.
