The launching of the Huawei Mate X has been delayed more than once now. While it’s unfortunate, there may be a bright side to the company’s foldable phone being put out a little later. New reports indicate that it may be sporting the Chinese tech giant’s upcoming chipset, the Kirin 990.
Previous reports indicated that the Huawei Mate X may have gone through a redesign that gives it more displays. It doesn’t seem to be the case, from the look of Neowin’s hands-on session with the device. GadgetMatch does report that it will have a five-layer screen protector of sorts.
Nothing much is known about the upcoming Kirin 990 chipset. That said, it’s expected to also power the upcoming Huawei Mate 30. And as a successor, it goes without saying that it’s expected to be more powerful as well.
Huawei has not mentioned any new release date for the Mate X. Based on previous reports, the earliest the company can put the foldable phone out into the market is November. The latest, on the other hand, is reportedly before 2019 comes to and end.
