The Nintendo Switch has been on the news quite frequently lately. This is mainly due to the Switch Lite, as well as the updated model of the standard Switch. The company has said that it will not be making any more announcements this year. That said, there are reports of the Switch getting a display upgrade.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Japanese games company will use Sharp’s IGZO displays for future versions of the Switch. The Switch models using this new display will be more power efficient, with contrast ratios taking a slight hit.
As it is now, there’s no indication of which Switch model will be getting this IGZO display by Sharp. Most likely it would be the still unannounced, enhanced model. That said, the earliest we will be seeing this IGZO display on a Switch is next year.
There’s also nothing stopping the games company updating existing models with the new display either. After all, the standard Nintendo Switch has been updated with a new chipset, which gave it quite the battery life improvement. On a side note, the updated Switch and the Switch Lite will hit Malaysian shelves around the same time it hits international markets.
