Over the past few years, the Fast & Furious family has been a little bit shaky. Vin Diesel has been beefing with The Rock, Tyrese Gibson literally broke down on the internet and now it looks like Michelle Rodriguez has issues with… the writer? Writer Chris Morgan has been penning Fast & Furious screenplays since Tokyo Drift, making him one of the backbones of this now highly successful franchise. In a recent interview, Morgan talked about how they’re building towards a Han-Shaw payoff (TL;DR — Shaw killed Han but is now being treated as a good guy) and that lines were specifically included in Hobbs & Shaw to highlight that the angle is far from wrapped up.
But for some unexplainable reason, Michelle Rodriguez has taken to Twitter to say that Chris Morgan has got absolutely nothing to do with where the ‘justice for Han’ narrative is heading. She said:
“I’ve been around since the beginning way before Chris Morgan came along & he has absolutely nothing to do with where this narrative is or where it’s going FYI.”

First of all, while Rodriguez has been part of the family longer than Morgan, she’s technically been involved in fewer films. Rodriguez was a part of 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8 while Chris Morgan has penned 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and Hobbs & Shaw. As far as the ‘justice for Han’ subplot goes, I don’t see why Morgan would be lying about something like that. He has been credited as the sole writer for all the films that have Han, making him the architect of the character, if not the franchise as a whole.
I do have to wonder, though, if Michelle Rodriguez has contributed ideas over the years in regards to the development of the Han character? Maybe she did but didn’t receive any recognition for it — why else would she randomly call Chris Morgan out like that? The whole thing is rather baffling.
If you’re wondering if Michelle Rodriguez is simply being salty that The Rock and Jason Statham have now gone off and done their own thing, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. In fact, Rodriguez has expressed how happy she is for the beefy duo.
Im happy for Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham, these boys have great chemistry & are bringing a wonderful playfulness to the fast family. Anytime an ethic human leads the charge in a franchise I celebrate it with joy Petty’s not my thing. Unity is everything especially right now 🌬
