Following the announcement in Ipoh last week, the unifi division of TM today has unveiled a number of solutions that are meant to address the issues faced by Streamyx customers. One of them is the new unifi Air which was first leaked out several weeks ago.
True to the leak, unifi Air is a wireless solution that is priced at RM 79 per month for existing Streamyx customers. It also doesn’t come with any quota and is claimed to be able to deliver a stable speed of 20Mbps. Customers will also receive the Huawei B618 router for free although they will be tied to 24-months contract.
Currently, the deployment of unifi Air is being prioritized to existing Streamyx customers. According to TM, the company has identified 35,000 Streamyx customers that are within the coverage of its TDD-LTE network and it has begun to reach out to the said customers in phases.
As for the existing customers with unifi wireless broadband plan, they will also be offered the same unlimited quota but TM didn’t clarify on when this will take place although the company will still reach out to these customers to offer the upgrade. Similarly, the unifi Air plan will be offered to the members of the public for RM 129 per month at a later date.
Meanwhile, TM has also announced the unifi Lite plan to replace the existing Streamyx offerings. Do check out our other report for further details.
