If you’ve been waiting for the release of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, it looks like your wait has just gotten a little longer. Developer Piranha Games announced that the game has been delayed by three months. This pushes its release date back from 10 September to 10 December.
In addition to the delay, the developer also announced that the upcoming game will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. In fact, from the statement given by executive producer Russ Bullock, the delay and the exclusivity deal is related. He said that partnering with Epic Games gives the developers time and and ability to make “the best MechWarrior game possible”.
Fortunately for those who have pre-ordered, getting a refund is still an option. That said, those who want it will have to request for it before 1 September. You’ll also get to keep your bonus MechWarrior Online content, but not those for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. You’ll also no longer have access to the game’s closed beta, which starts on 5 November.
That’s another game that has become a Epic Games Store exclusive. This follow a string of other exclusives that have come before, including the high-profile Shenmue III which initially refused to honour refund requests.
