Ever since Disney acquired Fox and promised to reboot and reintroduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been speculating on actors who could embody the iconic characters. As it turns out legendary comic book writer Mark Millar (Old Man Logan, Civil War, Kick-Ass) has some ideas as well. Recently, a fan took to Twitter to point out that Millar had predicted the future of the MCU in a comic book panel way back in 2002, six years before the universe even launched.
Not only did Mark Millar model his version of Nick Fury after Samuel L Jackson (prior to Mark Millar’s Ultimate Comics, Nick Fury had been white for decades), a page in his comic book also name-dropped future Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. Millar cheekily responded to the tweet by making another prediction: Taron Egerton as the next Wolverine!
“From 2002. Always remember I’m never wrong. PS Taron Egerton will be the next Wolverine :)”

Do keep in mind that none of this is official news. Millar is simply having fun on the internet. As far as we know, Taran Egerton (Kingsman) has not been approached by Marvel to play the titular character. In an interview earlier this month, Egerton was asked about rumours circulating the interwebs concerning his casting as Wolverine. To which Egerton said:
“That one I think is just a rumor. As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded. I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough. I mean if the people at Marvel think I am, then great, let’s go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere.”
I’m with Mark Millar and the rest of the internet on this one. I think Taron Egerton would make a fantastic Wolverine, one that is vastly different from Hugh Jackman’s version.
