While Huawei only releases two high-end phone series per year, the company has plenty of models to offer in between these two flagships throughout the year. In fact, Huawei has teased another new model for Malaysia yesterday.
While the company didn’t provide any specifics or even mentioned the name of the phone, it is not hard to guess which phone it is though since one of its major features was shown clearly in the teaser video:
Given that pop-up camera module, it is almost certain that the phone is the Y9 Prime 2019 which is the only model within the main Huawei family that comes with such feature. Contained within the pop-up camera is a 16MP sensor while there is also a 16MP/8MP/2MP triple camera system on the phone’s back.
Other than that, the Y9 Prime 2019 also features a 6.59-inch Full HD+ LTPS display alongside 4GB RAM as a standard with up to 128GB of internal storage. In terms of processing power, it is being provided by the Huawei’s own Kirin 710F SoC and is being powered by a 4000mAh battery.
While Huawei Malaysia teased it up yesterday, its arrival in Malaysia has been foreshadowed much earlier by the ever vigilant SIRIM database observer, Kevin Ng TK. As stated by his tweet on 1 July, the listing on the database showed that the phone was approved by SIRIM on 28 June.

With that, we expect Huawei Malaysia to officially roll out the phone into our market anytime soon.
