Sony officially unveiled the WF-1000XM3, its new wireless earbuds. The WF-1000XM3 is a direct successor and replacement to the brand’s last generation WF-1000X earbuds that launched back in 2017.
Needless to say, Sony has made some improvements with the WF-1000XM3 since the earbuds first came on the scene. The first and most obvious change is design; Sony has ditched the glossy, curved edge design, opting instead for a more ergonomic and form-fitting style that looks more comfortable for long use periods.
Noise-cancelling also makes a return, but with the WF-1000XM3, Sony has improved the feature by combining the Dual Noise Sensor technology with its new QN1e HD Noise Cancelling Processor. This allows the earbuds to actively cancel out the surrounding noise, such as aircraft cabin noise, allowing you to enjoy your music in a more immersive condition. At a fraction of the earbud’s power.
On that note, battery life is also another aspect that Sony has improved upon with the WF-1000XM3. The earbuds themselves hold a charge capable of providing six hours continuous music playback, while the accompanying charging case houses an additional three charges, giving it a total of 24 hours of playback. Additionally, the charging case is equipped with a quick charge function; 10 minutes of charging provides up to 90 minutes of battery life for the earbuds.
Moving on, the WF-1000XM3 also features a brand new Bluetooth chip that Sony says allows for simultaneous left and right transmissions, compared to the conventional to left-to-right relay that is employed in the earbuds of other brands.
Further, the earbuds are also fitted with a new antenna that provides a more stable wireless connection between earbuds and audio source. Eliminating the intermittent connectivity issue that was apparent in the first generation WF-1000X.
Unsurprisingly, the WF-1000XM3 is optimised for Google Assistant, and can be activated either via voice or a tap of the earbud. Other features include a Quick Attention mode, allowing users to briefly lower the volume and hear an incoming sound for the outside without having to remove the earbuds.
The Sony WF-1000XM3 will be available in Malaysia starting from August this year. It will be priced at RM949.
