If you were facing difficulties to upload or sending images, videos, and other files through Facebook as well as Instagram and WhatsApp throughout the night, you were not the only one. As it turned out, it was a global-scale outage that affected all three main Facebook apps but worry not, as the worst is finally over.
According to a tweet by Facebook, the company has resolved the issue that has affected its platform for the past 12 hours or so. Instagram has also tweeted similar notice:
Earlier today, some people and businesses experienced trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps and platforms. The issue has since been resolved and we should be back at 100% for everyone. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

While WhatsApp itself didn’t provide any individual statement regarding the outage, we assume that it is covered by the tweet posted by Facebook above.
An earlier tweet by Facebook Business division revealed that the outage was caused by an issue that was triggered during one of the company’s “routine maintenance operations”.
