If you noticed that your PC has been taking an unusually long time to shut down, this may be the reason why. Depending on the version of Windows 10 you’re running, a USB-C bug is reportedly hampering the shut down process by up to a whole minute.
A Microsoft USB blog post states that a bug in the USB-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) of Windows 10 version 1809 is behind this. The bug in question can not only cause up to a one minute delay in the shutdown process, but the sleep process as well.
The bug doesn’t seem to affect any other aspect of your PC’s performance. Either way, Microsoft addressed the issue with Update 1903, also known as the May 2019 update.
If you’ve yet to update Windows 10, this is another reason to do so, in addition to a number of other issues previously reported. Microsoft also gave Windows 10 the ability to automatically roll back faulty updates, so there shouldn’t be anything holding you back from updating.
