If there’s something strange, in your neighbourhood. Who you gonna call? Ant-Man! Wait. What’s that now? That’s right. Variety reports that Mr Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd has joined the cast of Ghostbusters 2020. This Ghostbusters film isn’t a continuation of the 2016 all-female version starring Melissa McCarthy but rather takes place in the present day of the original 1984 continuity. The film is set to be helmed by the brilliant Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank You For Smoking, Tully).
In regards to Paul Rudd’s casting, the acclaimed director had this to say:
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”
And it looks like Paul Rudd is also very excited to be working on this project. Rudd took to Twitter to announce his casting. “I’m sliming myself right now,” he said.

While we still have no idea what the story is going to be about, the film will reportedly focus on a single mom and her family, with The Leftovers’ Carie Coon playing the mom and Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things cast as the son. We’re also still unclear if the movie will have a plot thread that directly ties it to the original, but we do know that Sigourney Weaver is rumoured to return to the fold as Dana Barett.
Ghostbusters 2020 is set to hit the big screen in well… 2020.
