Despite the current and on-going US ban against China, Huawei and its sister brand, HONOR, it looks like there might still be some hope for the latter. Apparently, the brand’s current Honor 20 flagship devices are still in line to receive the upcoming Android Q update.
The brand said consumers that already own HONOR devices or are in the process of purchasing one will still have access to the “world of app as they have always done”. A little further down the statement, it mentioned that the HONOR 20 Lite, HONOR 20, and HONOR 20 Pro will still be receiving Google’s Android Q update. Albeit without a specific timeline mentioned.
On a sidenote, HONOR recently announced that the launch of its MAGIC 2.1 OS for its View20. The new features and updates are identical to Huawei’s EMUI 9.1, which also launched for Huawei devices recently.
All in all, the news is interesting to us, as we’re actually curious about how the brand intends to circumvent the US ban and restrictions and still provide its consumers with the promised Android Q update in the near future.
