The name Shinji Mikami should be familiar to anyone who’s a fan of the survival horror genre. His studio, Tango Gameworks, announced another game at Bethesda’s E3 press conference. It’s called Ghostwire: Tokyo, and it goes in a slightly different direction.
Ikumi Nakamura, the studio’s creative director, describes it as “a new kind of action adventure game” while not being a survival horror title. But there’s plenty of spooky supernatural elements in it. So much so that it’s easy to think that it really is a horror title.
The trailer itself depicts people vanishing into thin air, as well as a number of spirits from Japanese folklore. Then, a character with a bow shows up. This person, presumably the protagonist, says at the end of the trailer “Don’t fear the unknown. Attack it.”
It’s an interesting new title, to say the least. And with a person like Shinji Mikami behind the wheels, there’s undoubtedly a lot of potential. But sadly, the trailer itself does not reveal any release date, or platforms that the game will be on.
