You know the name George R. R. Martin from the HBO TV show Game of Thrones, and as the writer of books the show adapted. Now, you can associate that name with a video game as well, as he’s working with From Software for a game called Elden Ring.
That said, that’s about all we know about it. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, and it’s as vague as the story of a Dark Souls game. From the imagery, the game probably takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting of some sort. The characters that appear do retain designs that are very recognisably Dark Souls-esque.
While that would be typical of From Software, it remains to be seen what George R. R. Martin’s contribution to the game will be. Chances are he will be adding to the story, and building the lore behind the world where the game takes place.
The trailer does reveal that it will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but there’s no release date. For what it’s worth, there’s no mention of which launcher the game will come to, either. So we will have to wait until From Software, or publisher Bandai Namco, is willing to reveal more about Elden Ring.
