Late last week, China announced that it’s considering a retaliatory blacklist. At around the same time, the country’s tech giant Huawei itself has been making moves of its own. According to The Star, the Financial Times reports that the company is taking its own measures to sever ties with the US.
Specifically, Huawei has ordered its employees to cancel technical meetings with American contacts. Not only that, the report also states that the company has sent home its American employees working at its headquarters in China.
Dang Wenshuan, the company’s chief strategy architect, was quoted as saying that US citizens working in R&D were sent home two weeks ago. This coincided with when the US executive order was signed, adding Huawei to the Entity list of the US Commerce Department.
Huawei is also limiting interactions between its employees and American citizens, according to the report. Though, it’s unclear through what method it will be enforced.
