More known for its drone and gimbal, DJI today has officially entered the action camera segment by launching the Osmo Action camera. A clear challenger to GoPro’s Hero 7 Black, the new camera brings together 4K recording capability and more.
The Osmo Action is equipped with a 2.25-inch touchscreen on its back while there’s also another 1.4-inch screen on its front which is clearly designed for selfies. The camera is also designed to withstand water depth of up to 11 meters and temperature as low as -10C.
Comes with a 12MP sensor, the HDR-capable Osmo Action is able to shoot 4K videos at 60fps (30fps if HDR is enabled) as well as 1080p slow motion videos at 120fps and 240fps. Users can also utilize it to shoot time-lapse or go wild using its custom exposure setting which supports up to 120 seconds of exposure.
DJI has also implemented its Electronic Image Stabilization technology called RockSteady into Osmo Action so that the camera could keep up with all the action that users intend to capture. Its removable 1300mAh battery apparently able to deliver up to 63 minutes of recording at 4K/60fps with RockSteady turned on.
Available immediately, the new DJI Osmo Action camera is priced at USD 349 (~RM 1,457). The availability and pricing of the camera in Malaysia are not yet known for now, although we have seen some local retailers have begun to offer it. Stay tuned for further details.
