We first heard of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion last year. Now, Capcom has announced the release date for the expansion via a trailer as part of Sony’s State of Play stream, which also saw another Final Fantasy VII remake teaser.
In this trailer, Capcom showcased not only a bunch of new monsters, but also new gameplay mechanics. The expansion will also introduce Master rank, an additional difficulty tier, to newcomers of the series. Old timers will be more familiar with the previous name, G-rank.
Aside from all the new content, Capcom also confirmed the return of Nargacuga, the monster teased in the previous trailer. There’s also another roar by an unseen monster, to which many fans are speculating that it’s Tigrex based on the sound of the roar.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is slated for launch on 6 September 2019, with the game heading to the PS4 and Xbox One consoles first. We already know that PC players will be getting it later, but Capcom still hasn’t confirmed a date for the PC release. There will also be a Master Edition contains both the base game and the expansion, for those who want the complete experience but do not yet own the base game.
