Yesterday, there were reports that stated that Nintendo’s more affordable Switch will be launched as early as the end of June. Now, it looks like the head of Nintendo has debunked them. Or, at least partially so.
Shuntaro Furukawa, CEO of Nintendo, said that the company is always working on new hardware, and that it will announce them when they are ready to be sold. For now, Furukawa said that Nintendo has no plans to announce the Switch variant at this year’s E3.
Rumours of the two Switch console variants began circulating about a month ago. One of them is believed to be a more affordable variant but still retains the ability to be docked and connected to your TV. The other one – rumoured to be a minor upgrade to the Switch – is expected to be announced by this year, but within no exact time frame.
While Nintendo’s CEO has outright denied that the more affordable Switch will be announced during E3, it also sounds pretty unlikely that any announcement for it will be made in June. Looks like we’ll just have to wait until the inevitable announcement, even if without a time window.
