While phones launching with a Pro variant isn’t all that uncommon these days, OnePlus was never one to do it. But according to The Verge, that will change with the OnePlus 7, as it’s set to come with a Pro variant as well.
Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, says that the OnePlus 7 Pro will come with 5G connectivity and a “significant display upgrade”. He also says that the company spent three times as much on its display than on previous models. This, in turn, may cause the OnePlus 7 Pro to cost a lot more than what we’ve come to expect from the brand, price-wise.
As part of the investment bump in the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display, Lau said that it will “redefine fast and smooth” but stopped short of revealing any hardware specifications. This suggests a display refresh rate beyond the conventional 60Hz, but until official specs are announced, it’s difficult to say for certain.
All in all, it looks like OnePlus will be breaking two traditions with the OnePlus 7 Pro. One is the launch of the Pro model alongside the base version, and another is the bump in its price that could see it be comparable to other brands’ flagship devices.
