Originally scheduled for staggered roll out starting from this week onwards, there is now a huge possibility that Samsung might delay the release of Galaxy Fold. This is based on a new report by the Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed source.
Not surprisingly, several malfunctions that happened to some of the early review units have been stated as the primary cause behind the delay. The report further stated that the new foldable phone might only be released sometime next month although it is not clear whether the delay is specific to the US or also affecting the foldable phone’s global release schedule.
Then again, several launch events outside in countries outside of the US such as China, Singapore, and Spain have already been cancelled. Hence, we will not be surprised if the delay is happening on a global scale.
However, the launch event for Galaxy Fold in Malaysia which will be taking place on 3 May is still on schedule according to Samsung Malaysia’s representative. We’ll keep you posted once we receive further update from the company.
