The Knights of Ren was one of the most intriguing aspects brought up in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In one scene, Supreme Leader Snoke addresses Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) as the leader of the Knights of Ren; in another — this time a vision — we see Kylo Ren stabbing someone with his lightsaber, as the Knights of Ren stand tall behind him. Many of us hoped that we would learn more about this mysterious gang of thugs in The Last Jedi, but the Rian Johnson film ignored that plot point.
However, it looks like the Knights of Ren will be making an emphatic return in J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker. Making Star Wars (MSW) dropped some alluring details about Kylo’s masked gang, which includes a possible confrontation with a classic Star Wars character, Lando Calrissian.
According to MSW, Billy Dee Williams (who plays Lando) and the Knights of Ren were shooting at Pinewood for the set recreating their location in Jordan. However, it is still unclear if they’re sharing any scenes.
Coming out of The Force Awakens, many theorised that the Knights of Ren are all former students of Luke Skywalker who Kylo took under his wing when he destroyed the Jedi temple. But it looks like that may not necessarily be the case.
MSW reports that Kylo Ren appears to be the only one with a lightsaber. The other knights either wield blasters, daggers, axes or bow staffs. None of these weapons indicates that the knights of Ren are similar to the Sith in the original and prequel trilogies. Nevertheless, I’m still extremely eager to learn more about this group of gangsters.
