For the past few years, two highly established tech companies, Apple and Qualcomm have been bickering in courts throughout the world. However, that ends today though as the two companies have released a joint statement to announce that they have dropped all litigation that going on between them throughout the world.
This also applies to legal cases that involved Apple’s contract manufacturers and Qualcomm will also receive a one-time payment from Apple although the exact amount was not disclosed by either company.
In addition to that, both companies have signed licensing deal for six years starting from 1 April 2019 with options to extend for two additional years and a multiyear chipset supply agreement. Naturally, Apple will pay royalties directly to Qualcomm as part of the deal.
It goes without saying that this announcement means that Qualcomm chips will continue to play an important role in Apple products for years to come.
