Skype’s video calling feature on the mobile phone is fairly basic. Microsoft is looking to improve upon the feature soon by allowing users from both the Android and iOS ecosystem to share their mobile screens during video calls.
The creators of the messaging app say that the feature is currently in beta testing. As it stands, the added features will enable users to share anything on their phone displays to whoever they’re engaged in a video call with.
Adding this feature also brings Skype up to speed with other business-oriented apps, such as Cisco’s WebEx or GoTo Meeting. Examples of this application include sharing a PowerPoint slide or simply sharing a stream of your latest online shopping purchase.
As mentioned, the feature is still in beta testing. So, if you’re interested in testing it out for yourself, you’ll have to sign up for the app’s beta access. On top of that, Microsoft has yet to announce a rollout date for the feature.
