OPPO has been teasing this particular phone series for quite some time and true to its promise, the Chinese phone manufacturer has finally launched the new Reno series today. In its effort to deliver full-screen experience without the disturbance of display notch, OPPO has implemented a rather unique looking selfie camera into Reno phones.
Fondly referred to by many as the shark fin pop up selfie camera (shown below), the module contains a 16MP f/2.0 camera and its own LED flash. As for their rear cameras, it depends on which variant you prefer.
On the back of the Reno 10x Zoom variant is a triple camera system that includes a 48MP f/1.7 camera with Sony IMX586 sensor as well as 8MP f/2.2 secondary camera and 13MP periscope-shaped telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom capability. On another hand, the standard Reno model carries a dual rear camera system featuring 48MP main snapper and another 5MP camera.
Another thing that separates them apart is their hardware as the Reno 10x Zoom is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip while the standard Reno model is powered by Snapdragon 710 processor. Both devices can be obtained with RAM of up to 8GB of RAM and maximum internal storage of 256GB.
Comes standard with an in-display fingerprint scanner, the Reno 10x Zoom also comes with a slightly larger display at 6.65-inch as compared to the standard Reno which is equipped with 6.4-inch display although both devices utilize Full HD AMOLED panels. Alongside the support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging tech, the battery on Reno 10x Zoom is also slightly bigger at 4065mAh while the standard Reno model is running on a 3700mAh.
Not to forget, there’s also a matter of pricing as well. Here is how the Reno series is being priced in China:
Reno 6GB/128: CNY 2999 (~RM 1832)
Reno 6GB/256: CNY 3299 (~RM 2015)
Reno 8GB/256: CNY 3599 (~RM 2199)
Reno 10x Zoom 6GB/128: CNY 3999 (~RM 2443)
Reno 10x Zoom 6GB/256: CNY 4499 (~RM 2745)
Reno 10x Zoom 8GB/256: CNT 4799 (~RM 2931)
For now, it is not known when exactly OPPO will launch its brand-new Reno series in Malaysia. Nevertheless, we believe that it can take any time soon though since it has passed through SIRIM certification processor recently. So, stay tuned.
