IKEAhas partnered with Sonos to release two Wi-Fi speakers disguised as furniture. The products are known simply as the Symfonisk speakers, and like all Sonos speakers, users are able to control the speakers via the Sonos app.
Currently, IKEA and Sonos showcased two different models– a bookshelf speaker and a table lamp speaker. The bookshelf speakers can be placed horizontally or vertically, as as its name suggests, you can also mount the speaker on a wall or inside a shelf or even have it act as a standalone piece. Perfect for putting other items, such as books on top of it.
The table lamp speaker is also just as straightforward. This combines light and sound into a single product to de-clutter the home with fewer devices and wires. You can save space in your house by replacing two objects with one.
Both Symfonisk speakers come with Sonos’ TruePlay feature. It tunes the audio output based on the speakers’ location in a room. Essentially improving the sound quality for the speakers.
The speakers will be part of the Sonos ecosystem as well. Users can pair the speakers together to create stereo separation or pair them with existing Sonos products for a multi-room audio setup.
IKEA has pointed out that the Symfonisk speakers will be available from August 2019 onwards. It will also be available in two solid colours; black and white. The lamp speaker is priced at €179 (~RM825) while the bookshelf speaker will retail at €99 (~RM456).
At the time of writing, IKEA did not say if the Symfonisk will be available locally.
