WhatsApp group chats are very convenient, but at the same time, it can get annoying when you get added into a group of chatterboxes. To address this issue, WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that changes the way you get added into groups.
With the new update, you’ll get to determine who can add you directly into groups. Your choices are “Nobody”, “My Contacts” or “Everyone”. Selecting the first option means everyone will have to send you an invitation into their group chat. You can then decide if you want to be in that group chat.
Selecting “My Contacts” means your friends and family get to add you into group chats without your input. The last option is pretty self-explanatory by this point.
To get to these options, you’ll have to go to WhatsApp’s Settings, followed by Account, Privacy, and finally, Groups. We don’t appear to have it yet at the time of writing, but WhatsApp mentions in a blog post that the update will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
