Microsoft recently gave its Surface Book 2 lineup a refresh. Specifically, the 13.5-inch model has been update with an option to be fitted with Intel’s 8th Generation Core i5 CPU. The device is currently configurable with 3 different Intel CPUs.
The new 8th generation Core i5 is a significant improvement compared to the previous 7th generation Core i5 model. The Core i5-8350U is a quad-core processor with a maximum boost clock speed up to 3.6GHz. In contrast, the Core i5-7300U is only a dual-core processor with a maximum boost clock speed of 3.5GHz.
The new 8th generation Core i5 is available exclusively with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage and it will be priced at US$1499 (~RM6120). In light of the addition, the option with the 7th generation Core i5 with the same memory configuration has had its price reduced to US$1299 (~RM5303).
On another note, Microsoft is scheduled to hold a Surface event on 17 April in New York City. While the company has been keeping mum regarding news of a third generation Surface Book, it is expected to reveal more information about the Surface Hub 2 during the event.
