As per previous reports, the Malaysian government has recently embarked on national-level trial for 5G in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya. Soon, members of the public will actually able to learn what the next generation telecommunication network able to do directly from the people involved in it.
To be held in Putrajaya, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced that the 5G showcase will be opened to the public on 20 and 21 April. It is also being held in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of Communication and Multimedia Act 1998’s implementation.
Among companies that will be involved in the showcase include Celcom, Digi, Ericsson, Huawei, Maxis, Nokia, TM, U Mobile, and ZTE. Additionally, the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics, & IoT Institute, as well as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia will be participating as well.
According to MCMC’s announcement, 8 sectors will be featured at the 5G showcase such as agriculture, automotive, education, healthcare, manufacturing, media and entertainment, public city, and smart city. Naturally, a number of real-life applications will be shown at the showcase too such as autonomous vehicles, holoportation, drones, IoT, remote healthcare, real-time eSports through multiple 4K displays, and many more.
At the moment, MCMC has yet to provide the details on where exactly in Putrajaya the public showcase will take place. We’ll keep you updated once we heard more but do keep a look for further updates on MCMC’s official website.
