The Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) is on its way, with an official announcement currently scheduled for E3 2020. It’s even been granted two patents related to backward compatibility. And now, an image of what appears to be a devkit version of the upcoming console has popped up online.
There are a couple of things to note about this particular bag of hearsay. Firstly, seeing how it’s a devkit, chances are that the retail version of the PS5 will look nothing like what we see here. In conjunction with that point, the shots of the devkit may not be an authentic device, and merely a doctored image.

That being said, the upcoming DualShock 5 controller may, in fact, look like the devkit version that we see here. Slight design differences aside, it looks a lot like the current DualShock 4, albeit with a touchscreen instead of a touchpad.
In the end, it’s still safer to take everything here with a pinch of salt. We’ll just have to hold on until E3 2020 when the PS5’s official announcement is scheduled to be made.
