Months after we first saw the machine at CES 2019, ASUS has officially launched the ROG Zephyrus S GX701 in Malaysia. A direct successor to the original Zephyrus S, the GX701 is an ultra-thin and light gaming notebook that comes with some improvements over the last.
As a start, the GX701 features a thin bezel, 17.3-inch Full HD display. Fitted in the 15.6-inch notebook chassis. Additionally, the display also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, but more importantly, it also comes with NVIDIA G-Sync support.
However, as we pointed out in our hand-on, fitting in a display this big into space that small has its drawback. That drawback being the elimination of a built-in webcam.
On that note, The GX701 comes installed with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q discrete GPU. Giving the notebook 8GB of GDDR6 graphics memory, as well as the necessary RT Cores and Tensor Cores to perform real-time ray-tracing or DLSS efficiently (wherever applicable).
Other hardware specs of the GX701 include Intel’s 8th generation Core i7-8750H CPU that runs on a 3.9GHz boost clockspeed, 24GB DDR4 RAM running at a frequency of 2666MHz, and a 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4 SSD for storage.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is already available for purchase at all authorised ASUS resellers and retail outlets, at an SRP of RM13999 and two-year global warranty. To sweeten the pot, ASUS is also providing a free ASUS-themed backpack, a mouse, and the ROG GC21 external camera worth RM899, with every purchase of the GX701.
