During the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro launch, Huawei surprised the crowd by announcing its collaboration with Korean fashion brand Gentle Monster to create the brand’s first pair of smart glasses. For the uninitiated, Gentle Monster is a luxury eyewear company. Known for its avant-garde art galleries and experimental eyewear designs.
Unlike the Snapchat Spectacles, Huawei’s smart glasses doesn’t have any cameras built into it. It looks just like any other fashionable pair of sunglasses. Huawei is marketing the glasses as a sort of earbuds replacement, a wearable device that lets you talk on the phone without putting anything in your ear. There are no physical buttons on the smart glasses. Instead, users can tap the temple of the glasses to answer phone calls or access the voice assistant.

All the necessary hardware is integrated into the spectacle’s temple that houses the battery, microphone, speaker and chipset. The glasses are rated IP67 dust and water resistant and support wireless charging. It also comes in a leather case with a USB-C port and a 2200mAh battery.
Huawei did not mention the price for its smart glasses during its launch event but did say that the product will be launched sometime during July this year, and with several models to boot.
