UPDATE (7:30 PM): U Mobile has sent us an official statement which revealed that the telco expected its network to be back to normal by 10 PM.
Here it is, in full:
Dear valued customers, please be informed that we are currently experiencing intermittent service disruptions nationwide as we are upgrading our network. We are working tirelessly to address the issues and we expect all network services to be restored by 10pm tonight. Please check our website, Facebook or Twitter for the latest updates. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
U Mobile has also further clarified that the vandalism case mentioned earlier was an isolated case and not the cause of the current network disruptions.
ORIGINAL STORY (6:15 PM):
U Mobile’s data and voice services are currently facing a massive network outage across the country. This is based on a huge surge of complaints we are tracking from their customers on popular social media channels over the past few hours.
U Mobile themselves have acknowledged the network issues via their official social media channels and are working to rectify the issue. The response, however, stopped short of specifying the exact nature of the outage.

Based on information derived from social media postings from U Mobile customers, the outages which initially started as a minor service disruption earlier today quickly escalated to a complete network blackout affecting all U Mobile customers. Some customers even complained of network degradation that started late last night.
