Word on the street is that Apple might announce another type of subscription service at its special event tonight. Scheduled to take place at 1 AM Malaysian time, this service is meant for games which is an interesting choice given what Google has announced at GDC 2019 recently.
According to the report by Bloomberg, the game subscription service will bundle premium games for a flat monthly rate. Freemium games that generate revenue with in-app purchases are not part of the subscription service though.
The reported noted that the new game subscription service will focus on popular titles such as Minecraft, NBA 2K games, and Grand Theft Auto series. In terms of revenue, it will apparently be distributed among the game developers based on the time duration that gamers spent playing those games.
Naturally, we advise you to take the information with a grain of salt for the time being. However, all will be revealed soon anyway since Apple’s special event will take place in less than 12 hours’ time.
