Much like James Cameron and Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan is one of the few directors in the world whose name has a box office value akin to a movie star. His films are not only well received by critics but also do tremendously well at the box office. And now, two years after the release of his war epic, Dunkirk, we’re starting to get details on Nolan’s next movie which is set to hit the big screens in 2020.
In a report that’s sure to get some many people’s panties in a bunch, Robert Pattinson is set to star opposite John David Washington in the Nolan film. This news hit the interwebs thanks to Jeff Sneider of Collider.com. Here’s what he had to say:
My understanding is that Pattinson and Washington (BlacKkKlansman) will play the two leads, and there will also be an age-appropriate female lead, as well as an older male co-star. There’s speculation that the film could be a sequel of sorts to Inception…
A lot of people are going to read this news and roll their eyes, immediately associating Robert Pattinson with the Twilight franchise. But what if I told you, Pattinson is one of the most underrated ACTEURS working today? Outside of Twilight and Harry Potter, Pattinson has consistently delivered one stellar performance after another in the indie scene. Don’t believe me? Go and watch The Rover, The Lost City of Z and Good Time. The dude is a force to be reckoned with and working with Christopher Nolan could possibly turn him into a household name.
Apart from Robert Pattinson and John David Washington, the film will also reportedly star Elizabeth Debicki. However, beyond casting, little else is known about the film. Recently, Variety described the film as “a massive, innovation action blockbuster” that will once again be shot with IMAX cameras.
Warner Bros. has pencilled July 17, 2020, as the film’s release date with production expected to start in the middle of this year.
