Devil May Cry 5 (DMC5) is already half a week old, but it’s already doing very well. So well, in fact, it’s now the second most successful launch title for Capcom on Steam.
According to Steam’s charts, the number of concurrent DMC5 players currently sits at 88735 at the time of writing. While it sounds pretty impressive, gaming site Twisted Voxel reports that the game managed to hit over 77000 concurrent players on the first day of its launch.
In contrast, Resident Evil 2 Remake only recorded around 74000 concurrent players. launched in January, it also managed to sell over three million copies within its first week. And yet, its highest number of concurrent players has been surpassed by DMC5 on its first day.
Having been released on 8 March 2019, the end of this week will be when we get a chance to see DMC5’s first week sales figures. It will be interesting to see if this will be Capcom’s second-fastest selling game, behind Monster Hunter: World. The latter of which recorded an excess of 330000 concurrent players during its launch.
