While Google is quietly working on its Project Stream, it looks like the company is also making other hardware related to it. This is based on a new patent that revolves around a controller.
That said, the controller itself is not the main focus of the patent. Rather, it’s for a notification system for the controller. The fact that a controller has notifications for new game alerts, a game invitation or a chat request is probably what makes it patent-worthy.
In terms of looks, it comes with the pretty standard layout. That said, there are two interesting buttons in the middle. One has the Google logo on, and presumably works like the PS button on a DualShock 4. Below it is a button with a microphone logo, which could be used for anything – from voice commands to calling up the Google Assistant.
But as with all patents, it may not necessarily result in a consumer product. That said, GDC 2019 is just around the corner. Hopefully we’ll find out if this controller is part of Google’s plans for its entry into the gaming industry.
