A number of patent applications filed by Apple were published recently, indicating Apple might be developing an augmented reality headset. The latest patent contains information detailing augmented reality devices and the ability to use the technology together with Apple devices.
The patent details how the AR headset can view an augmented reality environment with images overlaid on top. The augmented reality environment can be interacted with, using touch-sensitive surfaces such as touchpads and touch-screen displays. The headset will potentially be able to communicate with connected devices without getting tangled in wires.
Another patent describes a method for representing points of interest in a real environment on the headset. The headset will likely feature a camera that is able to identify and annotate point of interests and other objects in the view. This means that certain indicators can be placed into an augmented reality scene as illustrated in the patent.
All this is however, is just speculations for now. A giant like Apple frequently files patent throughout the years, some of which never see the light of day.
