Just a few days ago Razer announced that they are terminating the Razer Game Store as part of the company’s realignment plans. As it turns out though, the realignment also affects some of its staff members within Razer’s mobile division.
According to a tip received by Droid-Life, a significant portion of the division including hardware engineers as well as some staff within the marketing department have parted ways with the company. The tip also stated that those who remained have been tasked to deliver updates for Razer Phone 2 as the company shuts down development work on Razer Phone 3.
Razer has then responded to the news by releasing a statement which confirmed that it has closed down several projects and has also let go 30 employees. Despite that, the exact fate of its mobile phone division and Razer Phone was not mentioned in the statement specifically.
A follow-up statement from the company further revealed that some of the Razer’s mobile division staff members have been reassigned to other projects. In the same statement, Razer has also stated that it will continue to invest in the mobile gaming space and is currently working on new mobile projects.
Nevertheless, it still unclear at the moment what will happen to the future iterations of Razer Phone but at the very least, Razer Phone 2 will continue to be supported by the company for the time being.
