Scalebound was a game that was developed to be an Xbox One exclusive before Microsoft cancelled it in 2017. Now, it’s looking towards becoming a Switch exclusive instead with Nintendo supposedly reviving the project.
The game, developed by PlatinumGames, was initially going to be an open world game with online components. It’s unclear as of now if it will continue with this direction, or if Nintendo wants it to go a different way to accommodate the difference in processing power between the Xbox One and the Switch.
It’s not the first time Nintendo gave PlatinumGames incentives to make games. The publisher did fund Bayonetta 2 when its original publisher, Sega, decided against a sequel. Now, Nintendo is bringing Scalebound back from the grave, so it’s easy to see why the game would end up being a Switch exclusive.
That said, there’s no word as to when the game will be released. Scalebound was in development for about four years before Microsoft cancelled it, and it remains to be seen if Nintendo wants the game overhauled before the inaugural Switch release.
