Appears without any warning, there is a new telco brand called nex.life has come into the scene with an interesting offering that combines home broadband and mobile into one single plan. Not only that, the new plan which is called nex.life Connect also comes with an unlimited quota for both usages.
In other words, consumers only need to pay one single fee which is RM 110 per month that covers both their home and mobile Internet usages. Currently being offered at RM 100 in conjunction with its launch, there are quite a number of details you need to note before you sign up for the new nex.life unified (heh) unlimited plan.
For starters, the people behind nex.life is actually Webe Digital which is the wireless arm of TM. Yup, that’s right: it is also the same division that is running unifi Mobile which also offers both home broadband and mobile plans as well although not in one single product as per nex.life. Hence, the establishment of nex.life might seem rather counterproductive to unifi Mobile.
However, the home broadband part of nex.life plan does not utilize mobile networks though, as far as we can tell from its FAQ document. The document stated that it is a data-only fiber-based fixed broadband service with speed of up to 20Mbps although customers need to purchase their own Wi-Fi router.
On the mobile portion of the plan, there is a specific data quota of 500MB per month for customers to utilize if they ended up using their mobile phone in non-LTE areas as the unlimited quota only applies within LTE areas. Their non-LTE connection will then be throttled to 64kbps once the quota is fully depleted although they can choose to purchase add-on passes to restore the original speed.
Since it is a product from the Webe team, it is not surprising to see that customers need to purchase hotspot passes if they want to share their nex.life connection from their phone to other devices. In terms of call charges, it costs RM 0.20 per minute while the SMS is priced at RM 0.15 per message.
Meanwhile, do also note that nex.life Connect has a 12-month contract period together with RM 300 upfront fee which would be offset into customers’ bill. To learn more, just head on to nex.life official website right here.
