Apple’s intention of releasing an iPhone with three rear cameras this year isn’t anything new. Fast forward to today, and several reports are now saying that the company from Cupertino is already testing out several iPhones with a triple camera system and USB-C port.
Specifically, the brand is said to be several versions of iPhones fitted with the triple camera setup and the aforementioned USB-C port. Apple is clearly not the first brand to release a phone with a main triple camera setup. Huawei already has its P20 Pro and Mate 20 series smartphones, while Samsung released its mid-range Galaxy A7 last year.
Additionally, Bloomberg also says that the third camera on the iPhone will be able to capture more pixels that would enable the phone to automatically repair a video or photo that was part of a broader shot.
Apple’s choice of switching over from its proprietary Lightning connector to the more ubiquitous USB-C port is not unexpected. In fact, Apple already began the transition back with the launch of its latest iPad Pro in October last year.
Beyond this report, there’s no additional information about Apple’s next generation iPhones. However, if the brand stays the course, we should see the phones launch sometime during the second quarter of 2019.
