In spite of Apple’s sales of iPhones not meeting expectations, it looks like its App Store is making an absolute killing. The company announced that its customers set new spending records over the holidays on the App Store.
Between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, Apple reports that its customers spent over US$1.22 billion (~RM5.05 billion). This, says Phil Schiller, Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, was the App Store’s “biggest week ever.”
And on New Year’s Day of 2019, people spent over US$322 million (~RM13.33 million), setting a new single-day record. As Phil Schiller puts it, “App Store finished off an outstanding 2018 and kicked off 2019 with a bang.”
Unsurprisingly, Gaming was one of the most popular categories, with titles like Fortnite and PUBG topping the charts.
