Samsung earlier this week has announced a new feature called Remote Access which will be made available for its Smart TVs starting with 2019 models onward. As per its name, this feature allows users to remotely access certain programs and apps on their other devices including PC and mobile phones from the comfort of their Samsung Smart TVs.
The company didn’t name any specific programs or apps that can support the new feature just yet though. However, Samsung did point out that users can surf the web and play games from their PC that might be in different part of their house on Smart TV using Remote Access provided that they have also hooked up a keyboard and mouse to the TV.
Through a collaboration with VMware, users are also able to use the Remote Access feature to connect to their cloud-based work files and documents. Samsung didn’t provide any specific details regarding this part of the feature as well but has stated that this function works via a web browser.
Samsung has also assured that the security aspect of Remote Access has been covered through the company’s own Knox security technology. We are rather curious to see how the feature works in real life, so let’s hope we get to see it in action soon enough.
