The word on the street was that the iPad mini will be getting a refresh in 2019. We speculated that it may come with a redesign that’s like this year’s iPad Pro. Now, new leaks of cases for the iPad mini 5 suggests that it will indeed come with the new redesign.
A case claimed to be for the tablet shows a few changes to the tablet’s design. The rear camera cutout suggests either a second sensor or a flash. Four cutouts split between the top and the bottom also suggests stereo speakers.
One cutout at the top suggests that the 3.5mm jack remains. Round the bottom an elongated cutout remain. That said, it doesn’t look long enough to accommodate a USB-C plug, so it’s likely that the Lightning connector will be making a return.
Assuming the iPad mini 5 really makes use of the new iPad Pro design, it’s possible that the iPad mini 5 would probably be able to make use of the new Apple Pencil.
That said, it’s better to wait for an official announcement from Apple before we start getting to invested in an Apple iPad mini 5.
