Samsung is not the only one that’s giving users of its phones Christmas presents. It looks like OnePlus is also giving its latest phones the Android 9 Pie update. Specifically, the OnePlus 5 and 5T are getting the Android 9 Pie via its Oxygen OS 9.
A post in the OnePlus forums state that the update will be first reaching a small number of users first. A broader rollout will begin in a few days, the post continues. No timeline was given as to when the other OnePlus 5 and 5T users will be getting the update, but it’s a good idea to check for it every once in a while now.
There are a few changes that you can expect from the update, a few of which we’ve covered prior. Others include a new version of Gaming Mode, Google Lens integration into the camera, Do Not Disturb mode with adjustable settings, and a brand new UI.
It’s nice of OnePlus to be pushing the Android 9 Pie Update to older generation devices. But with that said, the OnePlus forum post did not mention if phones older than the OnePlus 5 will be getting the new update.
